Having started at about 0520 today in Winchester we have now arrived at Devon and Cornwall Police HQ, via Dorset HQ near Dorchester. Today has been the toughest so far but we got off to a fantastic start in Winchester where after presenting us with a cheque the Chief Constable of Hampshire cycled with us to the Dorset border. (Something about making sure we'd left?)
Anyway on to Dorset HQ in Winfrith where we again received another great reception when we were met by Det.Ch.Supt. Richard Burkmar and other staff who presented a cheque on behalf of their force.
After a quick bacon roll on the road we were off again to Exeter, big mistake of the day we went via Lyme Regis, which although a very pretty place meant we had a 1,000 feet drop into the town followed by a climb out of the same amount. (I knew we should have checked the OS Map and not relied on road maps and SatNavs.)
After our little diversion we arrived early this afternoon at the Devon and Cornwall Police HQ to be greeted by ACC Paul Netherton who presented a cheque on behalf of his force.
So that's it for today, off for a rest and to get some grub, tomorrow we are expecting more company and rain apparently!
