After a fantastic start yesterday with some great donations at Police Mutual in Lichfield, then Norfolk and Suffolk. We are off on the road bright and early at 0500. Steve being a retired officer did not realise that there was more than one 5 o'clock in a day. Anyway we are off on our way to Chelmsford.
When we get there just after 10 this morning we are rewarded with a fantastic reception and not one cheque but two. One presented by the Chief Constble Andy Bliss and the other by local officers from Tilbury, who then see us safely on our way to the next stop in Kent although we miss the ferry between Tilbury and Gravesend by 5 minutes. (You would have thought they would have waited?) Don't they know who we are?
Anyway, having safely negotiated the Thames we are on our way again to Kent Police HQ in Maidstone. What was it the Met Office said about a barbecue summer? The heavens opened and Ronny did a great impression of a drowned rat! But we pressed on and arrived in Maidstone late this afternoon to another fantastic reception and another cheque presented on behalf of Kent Police.
Thanks again to everyone for their support today from Suffolk first thing this morning to Essex later on and then finally Kent.
We are all off to bed now, early start tomorrow upwards and onward to Lewes, Guildford and Winchester, hopefully our kit will be dry and it will not be raining!
