About Tour de Force

On 1st August 2009 Dominic Chambers, manager of the only national police children's charity Child Victims of Crime, Ronny Carey, Trustee and Matt Ferguson RFU tag rugby man began their epic journey to cycle to every police headquarters throughout England, Scotland & Wales. The support vehicle is driven by CVOC trustee Steve Johnson.

They are cycling to raise awareness of the charity and its valuable work with the added hope of raising significant funds through individual police forces holding fundraising events.

They are stopping off at each Force Headquarters en route for cheque presentations and press coverage.

If you would like further detailed information of the route and would like to join or sponsor them on a particular leg of the journey please contact info@cvoc.org.uk or phone 01785 227325.

The blog is being updated daily by CVOC trustee Trevor Koschalka.

Day 1 - 31st July 2009

So after all the training and talking it has finally arrived the first day of the 'TOUR de FORCE'
Before we even set off we received our first donation from Police Mutual in Lichfield.
Then we drove over to Norfolk Police Headquarters to begin the 'tour' proper where we received another magnificent donation. It took about 3 1/2 hours to drive from Stafford to Norwich, (maybe we should have ridden on the bikes - it may have been quicker) sorry Steve I am sure it was nothing to do with your driving!
Then we rode to Suffolk Police HQ being piloted by local cyclists from the forces through the local country lanes. When we arrived we had another magnificent reception and another donation and were then entertained with a great barbecue.
Thanks to all concerned for your fantastic support on the first day, if it carries on in the same way the effort will all be worthwhile.
